    Paul,

I have wp-dbmananger setup to email a copy of my daily database backup to an email address. In the WP Simple Firewall Audit Trail Viewer I see in the Emails section the event “email_attempt_send” and the message “There was an attempt to send an email using the “wp_mail” function. It was sent to …”

“Attempt” implies that it was stopped. Was it? And which setting do I change to allow that to be sent?

If I use one of those plugins that replaces sending by wp_mail with smtp, will WPSF allow that?

    Thanks!

Sorry! I found the option to deselect logging sent emails in the Audit Trail tab.

Btw: I checked that account and the emails were received. The time the email was received was correct at 8:43pm. But in the Audit Trail Viewer it shows the attempt at 15:43, 5 hours earlier. I have the timezone set to the nearest city in my area so the system it correct. Is there somewhere else to set that? I’m assuming the other entries in the Audit Trail are also logged at the wrong time.

The email auditing can only ever say that an email was attempted, it cannot state its success or failure. This is just because of the way that the wp_mail filters/hooks work.

There should be no problem with using a 3rd party email plugin I believe – it’ll just need to fire the same filters/hooks as WordPress.

I’ll investigate how time is handled and it’s probably just a UI display issue.

    Thanks,
    Paul.

The audit trail should now display the correct time relative to your timezone – let me know if that’s not the case with v4.7.0
