    Hi,
I couldn’t find an exactly similar question on the forum , so here:
I got an Email alert about customer logged in as admin- actually several times, which I first ignored…But when I check my site this IP address is shows just as a customer, not admin? Could there be something fishy about this? Why do I get the alert? This IP address belong apparently to some old person, BUT was on the list of IP addresses trying to log in to my account. My host uses Linux.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @katartpics,
Sorry for the late reply. There are two possibilities I can think of

    1. Yes, it could be something fishy. There are some vulnerabilities that allow privilege escalation meaning that a regular user could be upgraded to admin.

    2. It’s also possible that there is a bug in one of the plugins you are using which causes all users to appear as admins under some circumstances (even though they aren’t).

    3. Did the use actually have “admin” in the name? If so, that can cause an admin alert under some circumstances.

I have no idea how IP addresses work but in my host informs that it’s different of what I thought it is.
So most of the time it informs that it was actually me! I verified that from the login times.
So, for now all is OK, just have to keep eyes open.
    Thanks for the reply

    Hi @katartpics,

Well that’s good news! You can usually find your own IP by typing “my ip” in to google or such. Best of luck for now.
