Email address login not working

  • On the default WordPress login screen there is indication that you can log in with the email address associated with the account.

    This is not working for us. Only username will result in a successful login.

    Any suggestions as to how to troubleshoot?

    Is login with email address functionality supported by WordPress out of the box? Or is a plugin required?
