    Hi there,

We are using Contact form 7, and since it’s not sending any emails we installed the ‘WP Mail SMTP’ plugin to fix it.
We have a couple of forms, and the email submissions are sending to different people, so the ‘To’ field has different email addresses. Will it still work if the ‘To’ field in the contact form 7 is different from the email address defined in WP Mail SMTP > General > ‘From Email’.
For example, in ‘WP Mail SMTP’ settings, if we used this email address ‘[email protected]’ in the ‘From Email’ + ‘SMTP username’ fields, in Contact Form 7, if we use ‘[email protected]’ in the ‘To’ and ‘From’ field, will it work?
Or does both the ‘To’ and ‘From’ fields (from contact form 7) should use ‘[email protected]’?
Or the ‘From’ field (from contact form 7) should use ‘[email protected]’ and the ‘To’ field can use ‘[email protected]’?

I am trying to understand which fields in contact form 7 should be using the email address defined in WP Mail SMTP > General > ‘From Email’, so all my forms work properly.

    Thank you!

    Hi @rose18,

Thanks for reaching out & I apologize for any delay!

When you set up WP Mail SMTP plugin, you’re configuring your “from email address”. Just to clarify, the “send to” email address could be any email that you want to deliver your emails.

If you have configured a mailer like Gmail or Other SMTP, you need to send your emails using the same WP Mail SMTP authenticated email address.

In case it helps, you can “force from email” under the WP Mail SMTP -> Settings page and then your Contact Form 7 settings will always use that WP Mail SMTP authenticated “from email” address.

If you have configured a mailer like SMTP.com, Sendinblue, Mailgun, or Sendgrid, you have the ability to set different “from email” addresses under different forms. Those mailers will authenticate your domain instead of authenticating one specific email.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks!
