I’d hoped this would resolve itself after a major update, but it hasn’t… since upgrading from Events 2.0 the following warning has been at the top of my dashboard:

Welcome to Events 2.0! This is a HUGE upgrade from 1.6.5. Please make sure you have backed up before proceeding any further. You can easily revert to an old version if you want to backup first. This upgrade includes two major steps, migrating data & updating your templates as necessary. There have been significant changes to the template tags and functions. Check out our walk-through on the upgrade before proceeding and check out the FAQ & Knowledge base from the support page. If you’re new to The Events Calendar, you may want to review our new user primer.

You have events that need to be migrated. Please visit the bottom of the settings page to perform the migration.

Obviously this is no longer true… and while it’s not a major issue, it is a bit distracting and using page space… any ideas for making it go away?

    Hi Boomsma,

Can you tell me what version of the plugin you are currently running? Our latest is 3.6.1.

    Best,

Leah… I just updated to 3.6.1–usually update within days of them becoming available. Thanks!

    Hi Boomsma-

Did updating to 3.6.1 resolve the issue for you, or are you still seeing a notice about Events 2.0?

    Thanks,
    Leah

Still seeing the notice about 2.0. I’m trying to think of it as an old friend, but wouldn’t miss it if it was gone!

    Howdy Walter,

Sadly it sounds like you found the wrong forum. This is for The Events Calendar. We never had a version 1.6.5.

Do you perhaps have two Events plugins enabled? After a quick google search it looks like one of the other ones that matches your description did have a version 1.6.5. If you are not using it, disable it. Disabling any unused plugins is a good eyes, it lessens bugs, speeds up your site and makes it more secure.

    I hope this helps. Cheers!

Brook… I only have one plugin. As I recall, this (Events Calendar) was originally called “Events” and we are talking about the same plugin. As evidence to support that, the warning I haven’t been able to get rid of has a clickable link in the last sentence–that link IS to the Events Calendar settings page. Also note the warning quoted refers to Events Calendar.

That said, I seem to have resolved this problem… with great fear and trepidation, I used the “migrate data” option referred to on the settings page Events Calendar settings page. It said 8 events were “migrated” (no clue what they were or what actually happened) and now the pesky warning has disappeared from my dashboard.

Case closed! Thanks for the suggestions.

Ahh you are very correct. My apologies. To be honest that release was before my time. I simply checked our Git repo, which as you can see jumps from 1.3.3 to 2.0. But, I am evidently looking at the wrong repo. When I googled that version number it was bringing up a plugin with a different name. So I connected the dots. Clearly that was a mistake.

I am glad you got it sorted. This article explain the migration process you just went through. It does seem a bit strange that you had to do it twice. If something occurs because of this let us know. I can consult with one of the devs who has been around since the beginning if needed.

    Cheers, Walter!

Thanks again, Brook… so far everything seems fine. I probably should have addressed this a long time ago, but it was such a minor annoyance I just kept overlooking it. Let this be a lesson in procrastination! With a little more courage and curiosity I could have fixed this a long time ago!

Glad everything is working for you Walter! If you have a minute or two, we would love it if you left us a review. Thank you for your support!

    Cheers,
