• Hi, I’m using NetGEN 2.1.23 with WP 4.4.2. All I am looking for is a way to not display the title of the photo in the gallery display. If I manually eliminate the title in Manage Galleries, it pops right back in when I save the change. Older advice on changing the CSS doesn’t work because I can’t find a .css file in the new version. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

@meestor – The image title does not appear by default in basic thumbnail displays, are you using a custom template for your displays?

As to style, you can add custom CSS under Gallery > Other Options > Style … which will write to the nggallery.css file found here: ../wp-content/ngg_styles/nggallery.css

    Thanks!

@cais, I’m meestor by another name. ?? Thanks for your reply. I’ve read that not showing titles is the default, but for some reason, this is not the case on my installation. Thanks for the tip re. the Other Options feature. The /ngg_styles directory didn’t exist on my site until I created it by saving a custom style sheet via Other Options. Re-installation might be something I should consider.

@glhq – If you are still having issues we would need to see the image gallery first hand on your site to make any further suggestions.

    Thanks!

    Hi Photocrati and ‘meestor’

    Same problem here.

I recently updated my NExtGen to the newest version (at the same time with updating my WordPress to the newest version) and since then my albums and galleries also show the title on the page. Before the update this was not the case.

If I look at the text-version of the page on which the gallery/album is displayed, I just see the shortcode to that Gallery or Album.

Does this help to figure out what is causing this problem?

I do not use any custom display for the galleries. Is there any way to remove or hide the title?

    Thanks, Leonie

PS If you want me to start a new topic, just let me know. I thought it might be usefull to post it here.

@leoatoa – Please start your own topic so we can try to help you with your specific issue on your specific site. Although sometimes things look like the same issue they might not be caused by the same problem.

    Thanks!

    Hi Leonie

Just thought I’d mention that there are other threads about this problem which suggest the css route. Photocrati outlined a process that does work but the trick is finding the right class/id to edit. If someone had some free time to publish the css that would accomplish this, they’d be a hero to hundreds on this forum! ??

@ Cais and ‘Meestor’ : Thanks for your help. Will look for the CSS thread and -if that does not solve the problem- open a new thread.

    Good luck!

@meestor – A link to the specific gallery you are wanting to work (start?) with would be helpful, especially if there is some custom CSS needed/wanted … sometimes a theme might be introducing some requirement for certain specificity in the CSS.
