if there is no ‘discussion’ option below the page editor (in the ‘edit page’ page) then check the ‘screen options’ tab near the top right – and tick the box for ‘discussion’

if you really do not want coments on your pages ever – you could edit page.php and remove the line with comments_template()

make a backup copy before editing theme files.

    Excellent.
    That was it.

Now how do I turn off the blurb at the bottom about the theme and WordPress plug.?

So can I turn off the visibility of this footer in the Dashboard?
Or must I modify the .php file?
    If so, how?

Also if Im modifying things, should I be working with a Child theme if Im using Thesis theme?

    hi

    >>So can I turn off the visibility of this footer in the Dashboard?

If theme has that in a options page in control panel

    >>Or must I modify the .php file?
see below; copy footer.php to child theme folder and modify that copy

    >>Also if Im modifying things, should I be working with a Child theme if Im using Thesis theme?

YES child themes are recommended way to change ANY themes

How do I make a child theme of this Thesis theme Im working in?

If Thesis has an option to kill the wordpress blurb Im not seeing it.

Where do I go to ask specific questions concerning Thesis.

Feel like Im shooting in the dark here…
