    Hello,

I setup a 404 page template with Elementor and translated it with this plugin and Polylang. All is fine except for a little Dynamic URL.

On this 404 page i recommend going to the homepage, my latest portfolio post or contact section.

This latest portfolio post is inserted by Elementor’s Dynamic URL option by choosing “post”. The link works fine in my original (EN) and my translated (NL) page on a base URL that doesn’t exist like https://arcode.be/nope
But it stops adding a link for that latest post when i’m inside the portfolio url on a 404 page like https://arcode.be/portfolio/nope. There it just doesn’t render an HTML “a” element inside the “li”. Which makes it not point anywhere.

    Kind regards,
    Arne

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I’m trying to run this down to the cause and discovered it also happens on my original page (non translated) and even without polylang and this plugin. Must be something with Elementor and that /portfolio slug.

    This can be closed ??

    Hey @arnii5

Glad you narrowed it down a bit!

Let us know the solution if you don’t mind in any case!

It took some time before I got the final answer from them.

Elementor Support says it has to do with WordPress Core, linking to the latest blogpost URL with a dynamic link in Elementor will not be possible from inside the blogpost url/slug.

They suggested making a page that shows some of my latest projects (blogposts) and then using that page’s URL.

Might go this route, might even try a redirect with some PHP to the latest blogpost when someone lands on the link.

    Hello

Thank you very much for getting back to us.

By the way, which version of Polylang are you running? I have noticed with any version about 2.6 there are some major templating issues with Polylang and Elementor.

This weekend I was battling for about 8 hours to solve the problem and once I rolled back to polylang 2.5.2 the problems were resolved.

I will bring this up with Elementor and Polylang today.

If you do rollback, and it works will you let me know?

    Hi,

I’m running Polylang 2.6.2 for some time now. What kind of templating issues do you have? I had a quick look at some of my pages and all seems normal?

    Kind regards,
    Arne

Yes, this is an odd issue.

I still need to frame this response correctly for Elementor and Polylang. I will most probably use a video. But to try and keep it as short and simple as possible, here is a list:

Polylang, Elementor, Elementor Pro, Polylang Connect for Elementor. All latest versions.

Create a section template, (or any other) in the default language. Create a translated version.

Then, in a new page or template, assigned to the default language, when you want to insert the previously created template, it finds the default language. Then, when you want to insert a translated template into the translated page, it no longer finds the translated templates.

The “weird” part of this situation is that if the templates and pages were setup in Polylang 2.5.2 then they will remain fine UNTIL you need to edit them. If you have the latest Polylang installed, you will no longer see those templates available to you.
