• I’ve got a strange issue I need solved before I can feel confident in purchasing premium.

Site is in active development, all plugins and core are up to date. I’m using Elementor & Elementor Pro, Hello Theme, and Relevanssi (Free).

When searching some terms, certain styles related to icons and search boxes become distored on the search results page. This is most notable in the header, but I see it with other searchboxes that have the magnifier icon as well. See the below screenshots.

Header and Search Results page template are created in Elementor’s Theme Builder. Even with the theme builder Search Results page template turned off however, the issue persists.

Oddly, this doesn’t happen with ALL terms. I can reliably reproduce it using terms like “Contact” or “CPCS” or “Student”. But terms like “Star” return expected results.

Expected result using the term “star”: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gmmHrnNXZb0jXlkzGHBWAeKQfuBAzC1L/view?usp=sharing

Unexpected result/Issue using the term “contact”: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1O2a_q0vDg7-KiWsA1niGcUYkudoyhGSR/view?usp=sharing

I see no errors in the developer tools console. I realize this is likely some script or style incompatibility with Elementor, so I will be posting this issue with their support as well. Karma cookie to whoever answers without passing the buck first! ??

    Thanks in advance.

This may be Relevanssi highlighting getting triggered from the menus; that’s one thing that comes to mind. That usually shouldn’t happen. You can try to disable Relevanssi custom excerpts to see if that helps –?that’s the main vector for how Relevanssi could do something like this.

First of all, to the plugin devs, thanks for making such a fantastic plugin!

I’m having similar issues, only when the Relevanssi ‘Create custom search result snippets’ is enabled. Sorry, I can’t post a URL because the site is in development.

But even stranger, it all works when I only search with a single word. The formatting issue only occurs when I search for 2 or more words.
When I search for 2 or more, various UL elements which shouldn’t have a list-style-type for some reason now is set to Disc and the search box button is mucked up.

The problem all goes away if I disable ‘Create custom search result snippets’, which is a pity, as that’s a lovely feature.

Even if I stop Elementor Pro from using its own search results template and instead just use the standard WordPress results, the formatting is still mucked up (various UL items in the header).

Site with Elementor, Ele Pro, Hello Theme and a load of other plugins.

I’ve gone head and kept ‘Create custom search result snippets’ disabled for now, as I need to complete the site but if a solution is found, hopefully it will be posted here.

I haven’t heard from Sarah after my initial responses (she also contacted me directly through Relevanssi.com), but it looks like their site is still using Relevanssi, with Relevanssi excerpt enabled, and doesn’t have the problem anymore, so perhaps she can return here to tell how they fixed it. I don’t know, and without access to Elementor Pro, can’t really start guessing what’s going on.

Thanks Mikko. Hope she updates the ticket with a fix. I completely understand you can’t know what it is without having Elementor Pro, all good.
    Yeah, it’s a weird one! ??
