    Hi,

    I am using elementor free version with Neve theme. It works fine when using it for the home, about us and contact us pages but it doesn’t for my shop, cart and checkout pages on my website. I get the following when I try to edit with elementor;

“shop” page gets an error message – https://prnt.sc/9JzICaadRCnB
“cart” and “checkout” pages is blank with no website content appearing on there – https://prnt.sc/5CdhDA-bZ-aK

I think I saw a thread online that said that it might be because I’m using the free version instead of elementor pro? But I’m not sure if this is true, it feels like it might be something else… Please help me.

PS I’ve posted this topic in the “Neve theme” support because I’m not sure if this is occurring because of elementor or because of neve. Thanks in advance.

  • Hi,

The error you mentioned usually happens when attempting to create or edit a Blog page or a Shop page with Elementor, not through the Theme Builder.

To troubleshoot this issue, follow these instructions:

Make sure that you are creating an Archive Template through the Theme Builder, and only then, when you wish to edit the page again, go through the Theme Builder > Templates > Edit With Elementor.

If this doesn’t work, switch your theme temporarily to Twenty Nineteen and see if that helps.

If this doesn’t work, deactivate all plugins apart from Elementor. If this helps, reactivate them one by one to find the culprit.

    Hi, @lianakap,

Sorry for the late reply! After logging into my wordpress dashboard, I went Templates>Theme builder and arrived at the following page – https://prnt.sc/Ko2OQoP8o0ko

Everything is locked and I cannot use it without upgrading to Pro. Is this because I have to upgrade to elementor pro to follow the instructions you’ve outlined? Please let me know if I did this right. Thanks.

    Hi,
    Thank you for the update.
    Please ignore that step.

Did you try to switch your theme (temporarily) to a default WordPress theme such as Twenty Sixteen and see if it makes any difference?

    Hi @lianakap,

Yes, when I switch to Twenty Sixteen theme, “cart” and “checkout” seem to work and do not come up blank as it did previously with Neve, however, I still get the same error message for “shop” on both Twenty Sixteen and Neve theme. What should I do?

    Hi,

To troubleshoot the issue please try this guideline:
Make sure you are using the most updated versions of Elementor, WordPress & your theme. Sometimes it isn’t apparent that there is an update available. Go to Dashboard > Updates and click the Check Again button to be sure. (Make sure to back up your site).

If the issue persists, deactivate all plugins apart from Elementor. If this helps, reactivate them one by one to find the culprit.

From your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Elementor > Settings > Experiments. Change all of the experiments to Inactive. Click Save Changes.

    Hi @lianakap ,

Elementor, wordpress & my theme (Neve) are all up to date.

I deactivated all plugins apart from elementor. Cart and checkout page are working but the shop page had this error message – “Sorry, the content area was not found in your page. You must call the_content function in the current template, in order for Elementor to work on this page.”

    I’ve also deactivated all experiments.

I’m wondering at this point should I just create a new shop page? Because this is the only page that is not working. Please let me know what the best next step from here is, thank you.

    Hi,

It seems like the cause of this issue is an incompatible theme.

Here’s what you need to do:

Switch to a compatible theme, like the Hello theme.

Try to edit again. If you can edit, the previous theme is the culprit.

Find an Elementor-compatible theme that answers your needs.

    Hi @lianakap,

It’s a shame because I really liked Neve. Is there a theme you recommend that integrates well with woocommerce? I’m not sure if hello would suit our business as we are an ecommerce business. Please let me know, thank you.

    Hi,

Elementor has been created to be compatible with almost any WordPress theme as long as it has been very well coded following WordPress coding standards.

Please note that we do not make recommendations for any specific themes as we do not control the way these are created.

Here is a list of themes known to work best with Elementor: Which Themes Work Best with Elementor?

Hello, just wanted to chime in. I have been reading commentary on this issue from various posts. I am having THE SAME ISSUE with my shop page. I can not view it or edit it in Elementor. All of my other pages works in Elementor. I am using the Zakra theme. It seems like the only way you can edit your Shop page unless you upgrade to Pro. Please confirm. Thanks.

    Hey @lalanyc,

Seems the shop page is working now. I can edit some parts but not all of it because the Neve theme locks in certain aspects such as the “add to cart” button. If I were to start over again I would probably just do a custom build using Elementor lol!

@mauexpoimp Glad it’s working somewhat for you! I have another site using WP Bakery builder. I believe I can adjust the shop page in that. Thanks for replying ??
