Hey Bas,
Thank you for contacting us,
Please note The Elementor Beta (Developer Edition) is a WordPress plugin that gives you first access to Elementor’s newest proposed features and improvements, and provides you a glimpse into the development process of Elementor.
Important: Use this version with caution. Please do not use Developer Edition on production sites. Developer Edition releases, just like beta releases, may not be stable. Use it on staging environments only, and back up your entire website before updating.

If the dev version of Elementor (3.27.0-dev2) is not activated on the website, it shouldn’t be affecting anything, and deactivating it should be safe. However, if your client activated it at some point and built pages with it, there’s a small chance that deactivating the dev version could break styling or features introduced in that version.
Before deactivating, here’s what I’d do:
- Check if it’s in use – Switch to the stable Elementor version and see if the site still functions properly.
- Create a backup – Just in case something goes wrong, a full backup is always a good idea.
- Check with the client. If they insist on using the dev version, you might want to explain that Developer Edition releases, like beta releases, may not be stable.
If they don’t need the dev version and everything works fine with the stable one, you can remove it. If they insist on using it, you could apply additional security measures like limiting access or monitoring vulnerabilities closely.
Let me know if you need help checking compatibility before deactivating!
