Just got 3 of these on Friday for 3 different sites, same error:
Breadcrumbs Either “name” or “item.name” should be specified (in “itemListElement”)
They appear to be in the in Yoast output:
    {“@type”:”ListItem”,”position”:2,”name”:””}]}]}</script>
    <!– / Yoast SEO Premium plugin. –>

I don’t understand why there is a “position”:2 being output to begin with or what that would be useful for.

There is a name in “position”:1:
    {“@type”:”ListItem”,”position”:1,”name”:”Home”

    – Why do my blog pages show Home as a name in position 1?
    – Why is there a position 2 at all?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hello Wweaver,

Thanks for reaching out regarding your breadcrumbs schema. This help article will help you understand the breadcrumb schema report and how to resolve the errors/warnings – https://yoast.com/help/google-search-console-breadcrumb-schema-report/

I have read that and there is absolutely no information there that tells us how to fix this.
I need a solution. That article doesn’t say anything about how to fix the error.
It’s not another plugin, my settings are correct and this happened on several websites at the same time and same day.
So maybe you aren’t aware yet that there is an issue, so let me inform you that indeed there is.
This error is coming from the Yoast code so how do I fix it?

Anyone out there with an actual working solution I would greatly appreciate if you could comment here.
    Thank you

    Hey @wweaver,

    Thank you for your reply.

I checked your /blog/ URL, and it looks like it’s your blog archive page which is not a specific custom page, right? If so, please have a look at this specific help article to set a breadcrumb title for that archive: https://yoast.com/help/the-breadcrumbs-title-setting/#archives – where we mention to set a title for it.

One thing I would like to mention here is that I just happen to see you are running Yoast SEO Premium on the site. Please know that we are not allowed here to give support on our paid products on the forums here, so if you want and/or need further support with Yoast SEO Premium, please contact us directly by email: https://yoast.com/help/support/#premium

    Hey @jeroenrotty

I don’t have those options referred to on that link you provided.
I have Breadcrumbs disabled in the Yoast > Breadcrumbs tab.
The “Breadcrumbs Title” on the pages/posts and the Yoast Custom Post settings for Archives Articles fields are not available.

I will see if I can get access to the client’s premium login info and try to get support that way – not very likely and that is the reason I posted this on this forum.

The other problem is that as I said, this is happening on 3 websites not just this one and those others are not premium licenses they are the free Yoast accounts.

    Hi @wweaver

You might need to enable the breadcrumbs settings temporarily so that you can locate the ‘breadcrumbs title’ option and edit specifically the /blog/ page and try to add a breadcrumb title there and see if it fixes the issue with the empty ‘name’ field for the second list item – https://yoast.com/help/the-breadcrumbs-title-setting/

If you have an active Yoast SEO Premium subscription, please do have the account owner contact us directly at [email protected] so we can take a closer look at this issue and investigate it further.

Thanks @mikes41720 but that did not change anything.

I am currently jumping through several hoops with Premium support adding my email address so that I can discuss this issue with them. Messaging through the MyYoast admin is not verification enough that I am actually the one to discuss this with.
Do you guys typically have bad actors trying to fix breadcrumb issues in Yoast? Is that a thing these days…

So far it is a debacle but hopefully we can get that worked out and then maybe we can find an actual solution.

    Thanks again for your response

    Hi @wweaver

Just to clarify, you have an active Yoast SEO Premium subscription? If so, if you’re contacting us through the beacon from the website with the premium subscription, we should be able to detect if there is indeed a premium subscription associated to the site. Otherwise, please do provide us with the order number and purchase email address just to be sure. You can contact us directly at [email protected] and we’ll take a closer look at the issue – https://yoast.com/help/support/#premium

It’s likely there’s a field that you haven’t set up which is causing the breadcrumb schema to be incomplete and have that warning.

Hey Michael, @mikes41720 – I have already established contact with various support persons and yes, I validated my subscription.

For anyone having this issue, the fix was simple in this case, I did not have the blog page selected in the dropdown in Settings > Reading in the WordPress admin.

Thanks to everyone that helped out on this.
