effect.appear to a separate page…
-
hi all,
im new to scriptaculous, so perhaps this is a rudimentary question, but i cant figure it out, so here it goes:
ive installed scriptaculous on my site recently (and pointed to it from the header, which i was told is where it needs to be), and want to use effect.appear and effect.fade to go from page to page. in other words, i want my home page to be a static page, and when someone clicks on a link to any other page on my site, i want that new page to fade in over my home page (only covering the width of the homepage, but allowing for the likely difference in length between the home page and the other page, and in black with white text…). once someone is on an new, “appeared” page, if they click on another link to another page on my site, i would like that current page to fade out, and the new page to fade in over it.
im having a hard time coming up with how to actually do this. effect.appear does not seem to allow for linking to another page, rather seems to only want to take content that is hidden, but otherwise still on a particular page, and make it appear. i dont want to move all of my page content to some other page, as it would be a nightmare every time i had to edit anything (i suspect).
i know this is long, and im asking several questions at once, but if anyone has anyone suggestions about what to look into in order to achieve what im talking about, i would really appreciate it. ive looked up various tutorials about effect.appear, and none of them make a ton of sense to me.
