Educate a newb?

I’ve used b2 in the past, but I never fully understood what I was doing… I was just using it functionally…
basically, I don’t understand what RSS feeds do, pingbacks, trackbacks, and other stuff like that. I’ve searched, but I haven’t really found any good documentation. Anyway, I’d appreciate any info.
