    WordPress 4.4.2
    Time.ly AIOEC 2.3.5

We use a Google Calendar to handle our event scheduling, but we use the Time.ly calendar to import the events from the Google Calendar to the WordPress site.
    The import works great.

I spent an hour or two updating several dozen of the imported events with specific categories (which controls the icon displayed when viewing and hovering over the event) and other tweaks which don’t come in from Google.

However, on the next import, all of the updates to the events were overwritten with the basic, default, no-frills import.

If an event has not been updated in Google — and already exists on the site — it should not be overwritten. This is very frustrating, since it is preventing me from categorizing the events (and thus making sure people see the ones they are interested in like meetings or fundraisers)

Before anyone suggests that I set up multiple google calendars and create events in each calendar, thus controlling the import category by calendar — That defeats the very purpose of having a google calendar for our association on the google side! People don’t want to subscribe to 10 different calendars. They want ONE calendar to follow for the group.

hmmm…. posted a week ago and not even a single acknowledgement or response?

I have this issue as well. I actually do have two separate feeds that I import, one goes into one category, and the other is a catch-all for all other categories. But even the one that is targeted for a specific category, I’d like to be able to check multiple categories (where the extra beyond the main one differs for each event). These get overwritten with every import, so I don’t bother.

The edits I make to the other feed’s categories do stick, since I’m not importing to a specific category.

    Hi,

Sorry for not replying sooner. Our calendar recognizes events that are imported as being “owned” by someone else. Therefore, when the manual/automatic update occurs, it’s always going to overwrite the existing events. This ensures you are importing any updates, edited events or new events that have been added by the “owner.”

As a workaround you can add a feed, delete the feed, and select “keep the events” when prompted. Now the calendar will recognize these events as being “owned” by you. Unfortunately, this means that you will no longer receive updated events since you are no longer subscribed to the feed.

We have a “Preserve changes made to events retrieved from feeds” option with which it is possible to save the changes, but is only available in the hosted hub calendar.
