Not a bug per se, just a note for others. Just installed 0.17.0, and the “Share on Mastodon” box vanished in my (Classic) Editor sidebar. I was able to restore it by checking the “Use ‘classic’ meta box” in the Advanced settings (noted as “experimental”).

Again, not a bug, but a bit of a surprise (and not easily gleaned from the ChangeLog).

Hi Dave, and thanks for starting this topic.

It’s a bug in the sense that I had definitely not expected this to happen to “classic editor” users. Your solution, however, works! (I originally provided it as a fallback for block editor users, who should see an updated Share on Mastodon panel upon installation of v0.17.0.)

I have also created https://github.com/janboddez/share-on-mastodon/issues/87. Let’s hope that others running into this problem find this forum or that page. I’ve already briefly mentioned it on my site as well; I should update the documentation, too.

As said, until I’ve figured this out, the “Use ‘classic’ meta box” option is the way to go.

Should be fixed in v0.17.1! (I.e., one should no longer have to have the “classic meta box” setting enabled.)
