Editor Role blocks content

After a recent issue where all plugins were deactivated and reactivated again, a members only section to our site is now blocking all roles. After much troubleshooting,we found out that if we only check off admin and members (custom role), those roles are granted access, but if we checked off admin, editor and members, no roles can gain access.

Does anyone know why this would be happening all of a sudden? The work around is to no longer have editors and only admins, but we would rather have editors back as an available role.
