I went to make a minor change to my theme this morning and found that the “Editor” option under “Appearance” has totally disappeared.

Any ideas why this might be?

I haven’t needed to update my theme in a while, so I’m not sure whether it’s the most recent update that has caused this, or whether it’s a few updates back.

    – Try deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
    – switching to the unedited default Theme (Twenty Seventeen, etc.) for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
    – If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

    Hey,

I have very similar problem to yours. What if

those solution won’t solve that kind of problem? In my site I have “feautred image” option missing in WP News plugin and in most cases editor options, same as @thea.

Could it be that you have “All In One WordPress Security and Firewall” plugin?

I just found out that I have the same problem, so I was looking for a solution on internet, so I got to this theme.

But I’ve just solved the problem by remembering that I disabled editing of PHP files in this plugin that I mentioned, as it adds more security to your website.

So if you maybe did the same, just disable this feature and you will have editor back again.

I don’t have it on my website. Temporarly I managed the problem by turning on troubleshoot mode, then I activate News plugin and all options are there. But only in troubleshoot mode, otherwise no change…
