Hi, After upgrading to WP 4.9.6 I’m seeing issues with the GUI in the default editor in either text or visual are not showing up. That whole part of the screen is empty… I’ve tested in Firefox, Chrome, IE, Edge and all are in various states of disrepair.

    Anyone else seeing this?

  • Me too.
After updating to WP 4.9.6, The same occurs on my screen. WP 4.9.6-ja

One through pass: at media menu, select line by line display. It is OK on my Mac. So I select my image URL and insert it to the post. But I cannot set an eye-catch image in this way.

    Hope early dispatch.

    Hi there,

This might actually be one of two things (I just did a test on my site, and things appear to be working with WordPress in general).

Firstly, make sure your browser cache has been completely emptied (https://www.refreshyourcache.com has a great step by step for all major browsers if you are unfamiliar with this).

If that does not solve it, I’m still inclined to think it’s a conflict, either with your theme, or a plugin. You can use the Health Check plugin to check for this, it includes a troubleshooting mode that’s designed for these kind of scenarios and will help determine if it’s caused by a theme or a plugin.

@araraj would you mind creating your own topic, as you are talking of a completely different issues.

    Hi Mr.Marius L.J.,

Thank you for your advise. I cleared my cache but is not a solution to this trouble.
So I will try to check some conflicts from now on.

my excuse; the half of my post was not a different issues but was my idea how to bypass this trouble.

    Thank you again anyway.

    Hi, I got my solution.
Health Check plugin you advised told me my PHP 5.4.x is old and so on.

I installed a newer version and deleted some suspicious plugins.
After that WP 4.9.6 works well on my Mac. I settled down.

    Thank you, Mr.Marius L.J.

I goofed! Sorry! Looks like it was a case of CSP (Content Security Policy) gone amok. Once I disabled it and restarted webserver seems to work fine. My bad, I made it too secure to even work. =P

Odd thing is it was all working before the most recent updates. I’ll have to go back and do some troubleshooting on it.
