    Hello,

Just installed a new WordPress and after a created a template to active the maintenance mode, I stopped being able to edit. When I click on Edit with Elementor on the template or the home page I get an ‘Page not found’ error.

I updated my permalinks, increased memory limit to 512, tried Safe Mode and still can’t edit. I don’t have anything installed besides Elementor and Hello Elementor. I created another page and I’m able to edit that one but can’t edit the template I had created, even if I disable Maintenance mode.

Any idea why this could be happening? Thanks.

    Hi @lamayas,

Could you please provide us with the affected page URL or a screen recording showing the steps to replicate the issue? You can use tool such as loom.com to record your screen. This will help us better understand the problem.

In the meantime, I suggest trying out Safe Mode. To enable Safe Mode, go to Elementor > Tools, set Safe Mode to “Enable,” and click Save Changes. Safe Mode isolates Elementor and WordPress from all themes and plugins, helping to identify the cause of the issue.

For more details, you can read about Safe Mode here: Elementor Safe Mode.

If enabling Safe Mode helps, it indicates a plugin or theme conflict. To identify the culprit, try deactivating all plugins and reactivating them one by one until you find the one causing the issue.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you need further assistance.

    Best regards,

    Here’s a link to a screen recording: https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/video/29151887?key=bc1a114435fb590f5a7cab817d7605d7

As you can see, the only other plugin I have installed is Limit Login Attemps, because like I mentioned this is a newly installed WordPress. I created the Maintenance template and after I left the editor I was not able to edit it again. I had already tried Safe Mode and it does not work. The active theme is Hello and the error persist with default themes also.

I can edit newly created pages but not the maintenance template and home page.

    Hi, @lamayas.

It sounds like you’ve taken some common troubleshooting steps already, which is great. Here are a few more things to check and try:

    1. Clear Cache: Clear your browser cache. I would also recommend clearing any server side cache, as this is the most persistent form.
    2. Re-save Permalinks: Sometimes simply updating permalinks once more can help. Go to Settings > Permalinks and click “Save Changes” without making any modifications.
    3. Check .htaccess File: Ensure that your .htaccess file is not corrupted. You can try regenerating it by renaming the existing .htaccess file (found in the root directory of your WordPress installation) to something like .htaccess_old, and then re-saving your permalinks which will create a new .htaccess file.
    4. Check For Errors in browser’s console tab: Right-click on the page when the Editor is trying to load and select “Inspect” from the menu. Check the console tab to see what, if any, errors are displaying.
    5. Regenerate CSS Files: Go to Elementor > Tools > Regenerate CSS and click the Regenerate Files button.
    6. Check WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL): Go to Settings > General and ensure both the WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) are correct.

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you can try re-installing Elementor:

    Re-install Elementor:

    • Deactivate and delete the Elementor plugin.
    • Reinstall the latest version of Elementor from the WordPress repository.

Let us know how it goes.

      Kind Regards.

None of these worked, I ended up having to reset the installation and start again. Seems to be ok now, no idea what the issue was.

      Thanks for your help.
