One of my users, assigned as Editor, has just informed me that she cannot modify any of my [admin’s] posts. I just upgraded to 2.3.1 two day’s ago and had no problems. I’ve checked to make sure she is actually listed as an editor on her profile page. Other than that, i’m out of ideas. Any help?

No one else has had any problems with this?

Are you using the Role Manager plugin? If not, you may want to look into it, though I am not sure that would solve the issue.

I don’t use the pre-assigned roles in WP, instead, I use the Role Manager plugin for the multi-user sites I own and those I oversee.

If you’re using the built-in roles, if you checkout the WordPress documentation in Codex (Roles and Capabilities), it looks like someone in the role of “editor” would not be allowed to touch your posts. I could be wrong, but then again, as I said, I don’t use the pre-built roles. I create specific roles for those acting as editors, and have various editor positions, all based on newsroom editing roles.

Check out the plugin at https://sourceforge.net/projects/role-manager

Normally, nobody can edit anything if it was written by a user higher in the hierarchy.
That means no lower level user can (and should be) able to edit anything written/set by an admin…

But she’s been able to edit my posts since I brought her onto the blog. I didn’t even change anything, except to upgrade the WP version.

Got it fixed. Installed the Rolls and Capabilities plugin, and after a few hours of messing with things, realized my editor didn’t have “Edit Others Php” checked under her profile, since I have the PHP-Exec plugin. Thanks for the plugin.
