Editor Breaks HTML Tables?

  • If I try to put a data table inside a post (not using it for layout), TinyMCE strips out all but the first row when I either save the post or switch between code and WYSIWYG views. So essentially I can’t put tables in my posts at all. Why is it doing this, and is it fixable?

    And no, disabling WYSIWYG entirely is not an option, since this will be maintained by people who don’t know HTML.

  • Turn off the wysiwyg editor completely and insert code manually into posts.

    admin -> Options -> Writing
    and uncheck the box for “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically”

    Like i said, disabling WYSIWYG is not an option. And invalid HTML correction is already turned off.

    I’m investigating alternative editors. This version of WordPress + TinyMCE seems to be hopelessly broken in more ways than one.

    I’m noticing the same symptoms, I’ve also noticed the editor is breaking object tags by putting close tags on param sub objects.

    I also am dealing with broken tables…a very real downer!

    I hope this is fixed soon.

    Ive read something that says that wordpress does not allow inserting tables trhough TinyMCE
    My workaround is not pretty but it works. I use several tables made up of one row one after another.
    it seems tinymce allows this.
    The TinyMCE however is in my opinion WordPress’ worst feature – the one most of my clients complain about.

    Try using the FCKEditor instead of TinyMCE.

    I was hoping this would be fixed with the upgrade, but alas, no. I still cannot put tables into my posts.

    I am able to insert youtube videos by using the plug-in for that. ??
