Editing tools and visual editor problems

  • Hey guys,

    We’ve been running https://www.trunkjunkquarterly.com for some time now. Every now and again we come accross a few small problems but always seem to fix it. This one however is being a real BASTARD! For some very strange reason, none of the bottons other than the general navigation and logout buttons etc work. When you click on any of the tool box buttons, or help buttons etc, nothing happens. The visual editor also doesn’t work for some strange reason. Anyone had a problem like this before? We’ve tried the usual things like clearing chache’s, and de-activating plugins etc.

  • Have you tried:

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress?

    – increasing the available memory?

    Hey Esmi,

    I just updated it to the new version. The tool bars etc are all working, but any “pop-up” tools don’t. For example, when I go to add a media file, when I click on the tool bar option, it actually redirects me to the upload page, rather than have the upload tool “pop-up” in front of the editing page I’m currently in. Have you experience something like this before?

    Yes – it’s normally a theme or plugin issue. On rare occasions, it’s been a symptom of a hack. Have you tried switching to the TwentyTen theme?

    Yeh just gave it a go then. Still exactly the same problem. it’s frustrating because it’s probably the smallest little issue, but I just don’t have the knowledge to know what to look for. Any chance you know of someone who would be willing to log in to our account and fix it?

    Or think it may have something to do with being on a MAC?
