editing the username

    i know the user-edit-form says “no editing” regarding the usernames and i am aware of the problems it might bring. But anyways, i wanna do it and am thinking about a way to edit without messing up userid username passwd connection.

    i thought about changing the password first and then the username, so that i know which password connects with which username. but i’m unsure if that works out. maybe it’s better to do it via direct changes in the mysql-database? can you wp-geeks help me with planing/finding a good solution?

    i wanna do this, because i’ve recently had some automated registrations before i’ve installed a plugin to avoid those. i don’t wanna loose those ids and rather give them to some of my friends, who haven’t registered yet. thanks for helping me.

    Sorry for pushing my problem up, but i’d be very grateful for some tips, before i shoot my whole blog by doing a stupid thing.

    im missing the importance of the order in which you do it? What does that matter? It seems like you’re over-thinking this :p

    You wouldn’t give the username/login info to someone before you had changed both fields.. so ………

    use phpmyadmin, go into the database, change the usernames to ppl you know. Write down the names, or copy them to a text file. Go onto your users area in wp — change the passwords.

    simple.
