    Hello,
I am trying to edit the search widget that comes included with WordPress. Functionality wise it is fine. The only problem is that the “Search For” text is overlapping my sidebar boxes and the text itself is a bit redundant considering the title of the Widget is “Search” I looked in the widgets.php file as well as the style.css file of the theme. I couldn’t find anything. Can someone please point me in the right direction as to where the location of the code is that I need to edit?
    Thanks!

Are you talking about the widget that displays the search form?

It does have a default form included, but a much easier way to customize it for a theme is simple: Create a searchform.php in your theme. Put your form code in there. Done and done, that form will get used instead wherever you use the search widget. ??

    Great advice Thanks:)

Just wanted to add that I also benefitted from this advice. Thanks!

I’m trying to do this as well but need a little bit more of the instructions on what actually goes where and such. Can anyone help?
