• I have a question where hopefully someone with WordPress experience may be able to help me. I’m using the default theme, but … I have pictures from my Flickr account that I want to use at 500×375, but this is too wide for my main article column. It pushes my sidebar all the way down as well.

So I want to increase the width of main column, by moving the sidebar to the right and extending the left-half side of the main column. However, try as I might, I’m unable to correctly edit the page without the index looking weird.

    Can anyone offer some advice?

  • Your blog’s width is based on this image:
    https://www.hanenosuke.com/blog/wp-content/themes/default/images/kubrickbg.jpg
So, if you want it wider, you have 2 options:
    – make a new bg image
    – find a better=wider theme

What about the style sheet specifications? Can they be changed?

Yes, they can, but they will not change anything while that image is there. Or it will just mess up the layout.
And to make things even worse: the styles for the bg images is in the header.php of the theme.
If you are new to WP and want to modify a theme – pick anything but Kubrick and its clones.

Thanks. I’ll see if I can get a wider, more leftist (hah!) theme. I’ve been wrapping my head around the stylesheet code for days with no results …

    Moshu,

So the theme has to be sized to fit the image. Has anybody looked into having the image automatically resize to fit the theme? A plugin maybe?

And what about relative theme resizing? For different screen resolutions?
