I’m using WordPress 5.1.1 on a site I contribute to (waiting to update on my own WordPress sites until I feel like I understand how to use the new version!) I’m confused about what’s happening when I “tag” a post with keywords. I’m typing into the “add new tag” field as usual. I hit “return” and they take on the appearance of an added tag… and then they disappear. Well, most of them do; one of them is staying there, but the others have vanished. Have they gone somewhere else, where I could look and see all the tags I’ve added to the post? Or are they being deleted for some reason?

Admin Dashboard> Posts > Tags should show a page of all tags.

Also, check the upper right hand corner of the post editor for screen options.

Also, are you adding tags to default posts or custom post types, like Project or Testimonials? If so look for their main admin menu item and under it find tags also.

Can you provide a link to your blog page please if you still have questions?

Admin Dashboard> Posts > Tags shows ALL the tags ever used on the site. That’s not what I want. I want the tags that have been assigned specifically to the post I’m editing.

I’m not sure why it’s relevant, but the site I’m contributing to is https://comicspodcasts.com/

I tried adding “Marvel Comics” to the field shown in the screen shot linked from the above post, but it keeps disappearing. This never happened with older versions of WordPress.

Unfortunately, your site is blacklisted so I cannot open it. Review that here:

That said, you appear to be using a default theme, so does this occur with all plugins temporarily deactivated?

And, last that tag does already exist.

    https://comicspodcasts.com/tag/marvel-comics/

What browser are you using to perform the task?

Edit: Add one more item – the slug of the tag must be unique. Any page, category, or post with that exact slug will also cause this.

Am I misunderstanding the use of these tags? I thought it was to add keyword to *a particular post* to help people find it with those keywords. The fact that a tag “already exists” on the site seems irrelevant to my understanding of it.

I don’t feel it’s my place to deactivate plugins since I’m not the administrator, and many other people are using the site.

I don’t know why it would be blacklisted, but I’ll pass that along to the administrator.

Oh BTW I’m using Firefox 65.0.1

Tags are not keywords. They just group a set of related posts.

This is not a browser issue.

Yes, the site issue(s) need attention by the admin.
