Editing Tag changes Category

  • Not sure if this is a “feature”:

    – Create a Category:
    Name: Recipe
    Slug: recipe

    – Create a Tag:
    Name: Recipe
    Slug: recipe

    – Create a post for that category and assign that tag.

    – Edit the Tag (“Post Tag”) and change the name from “Recipe” to “recipe”.

    – View the post: the Category name has also changed to lower case.

  • It’s never a good idea to give your categories and your tags identical names. I’ve always thought that it was also rather pointless.

    @valuxes What version are you using? That’s not an expected behavior, but I haven’t reproduced it, so can you provide the usual stuff: WP version, browser (and version), OS etc?

    WP 2.9.2
    Firefox 3.5.8
    Client: MS Win XP Home
    Server: Probably Linux

    I have the same issue, and it’s driving me crazy! I’m using version 2.9.2, via Safari. Any updates here?
