Editing subpages cause parent structure to break

    I’m using WordPress MU 2.9.2 to host a few hundred teacher websites. I’ve shown users how to create subpages so that they can organizes pages such as Class->Attendance, Class->Syllabus, and so on. I have themes in place that will show subpages as dropdowns under the parent page listings. However, when we edit a subpage and then update it, it stops being a subpage and becomes a regular page, losing any reference to its parent! We have to manually go back to the pages list and re-assign it to a parent after editing.

    I have not seen a reference to this particular bug, but it makes it very difficult to run the system as a collection of websites for teacher use.

    Any ideas?
