• Hi all,

I’m a real newbie in search of a little guidance. I just installed WP on my site, and am fiddling with the themes, specifically WP II Silver. I added the text and links widgets to the sidebar, but I don’t know how to actually add text and the links section shows up as “blogroll” (I would like it to just say “links”). I’ve looked at the sidebar.php file, but I can’t find where I can edit these two things.

That said, I know literally nothing about coding. If I need to learn in order customize WP, could you please recommend a resource?

    Thanks for any help.

Adding text to a Text widget:
Go to the widgets screen. The Text widget has a little icon on the right hand side of it when you move it into the sidebar. That’s the configuration icon: click it and add your text.

    Links widget:
The links widget shows your items in the blogroll configuration page. Go there to add links and such. Each link is in a category. The name of the default category is “Blogroll”. To change that, go to Manage->Categories and edit your category to have a different name.
