• I’m a big fan of using the robots.txt editor in the Yoast SEO plugin on single site installs of WordPress, so I would love to have this feature on my multisite WordPress install as well. Out of the box, Yoast SEO unfortunately doesn’t let you set a robots.txt per separate site on a WordPress multisite install. The “Edit Files” page isn’t available on the different WordPress MU sites even.

Is there a workaround or alternative for this, or is this a feature that we may expect in Yoast SEO in the near future?

  • Would interest me, too!

Yes that would be nice to have in Yoast plugin to have one less plugin on your database. However, there is a great plugin called Multisite Robots.txt Manager. It is super easy to setup and generates a seperate robots.txt file dynamically for each subsite. Dynamically meaning you cannot find it in your ftp files. Aka its ran through the front end up wordpress just like each individual subsite. I am using it for Wistia right now and its really good!

I agree – Yoast plugin would be great. They keep up with best practices on robots much better than some plugin that has not been updated in 2 years. I would like to see this for multisite

    +1

just noticed after upgrading my plugin that it is working in the latest version ??
