• So I set up a blog page on my site, added elements & design etc. but when I go to reading> to set the page as a static posts page, all elements disappear (yet are still viewable and there on the edit page)

Would be really handy to have a way round this so I can insert recent post elements onto other pages, to take my to the blog page.

  • When you set a page as your posts page in the reading settings it it works a little differently. Pages generally use page.php as the template which shows your page content, however when you set the page as your Blog posts page WordPress looks for a different template, usually the one responsible for archives and the data sent to the template is the recent posts and not the page content.

Take a look at home template hierarchy works to understand it better.

In some themes they will provide a special page template for this page which may allow you to include the content you enter into your Editor window and still render your recent posts but his on a theme by theme basis.

Above is the link to the said blog page. I want to be able to keep it as it is, rather than changing to the plain template.

The theme I am using is salient.

As it is a Premium theme I would suggest you contact the theme author for support with this issue

If you use a commercial theme or plugin and need support, please go to their official support channel. In order to be good stewards of the WordPress community, and encourage innovation and progress, we feel it’s important to direct people to those official locations. Doing this will provide the developer with the income they need to make WordPress awesome.

Forum volunteers are also not given access to commercial products, so they would not know why your commercial theme or plugin is not working properly. This is one other reason why volunteers forward you to the commercial product’s vendors. The vendors are responsible for supporting their commercial product.
