Editing in Text vs. View

What theme are you using? Where did you download it from? It’s the theme that controls the Editor view but not all themes actually offer this preview functionality.

I’m still on 1.8, which was doing fine until I upgraded WordPress. I’m a bit fearful of loading he newest, since something on the site seems to indicate that it will change the look or layout of my current blog and I didn’t want to get into redoing it.
