I had hoped a workaround might be to just do all my formatting inside a post and then insert the post.

It seems if I use a post and insert that, the declarations for spacing between images is lost.

OK! I may have found a solution:

I added the TinyMCE Advanced plugin and I can edit things. Also, the formatting: i.e.: alignment, spacing, border etc. seems to be being maintained.

Now my question is: Does anyone know of any possible conflicts with SendPress or other plugins I should be aware of?

Ok, one more tip for anyone watching:

I changed to “Ultimate TinyMCE” and got even more control. I also added “TinyMCE Templates” and that is helpful also.

My usual is to have my newsletter content area as a post, (like lots of people do).

The odd thing though is you can’t reliably insert posts into the newsletter. If I do that, the image proportions get messed up.

What is working is to create my newsletter post inside the SendPress newsletter editing process, then cut and paste the raw HTML into the new post. Kinda’ backwards huh?

It would be very nice if there was a way to establish “parity” between a newsletter layout and a post layout.

    Thanks,

The problem you’ll have with not using the WordPress editor and using your own HTML is that messages may not render correctly in all mail clients.

Are you using the “SP” button to import posts? If you do anything other than the builtin alignment on the post you may have unexpected results on the import. We have to strip some HTML for the message to render correctly.

Right. I still get a different layout using the SP button than the article, but you don’t have control over the site template compared to how wide (for example) the newsletter container is set for.

What is that value? 600px? (Going by the size image for the header your plugin recommends.

Yes, the inside part of the message is 600 pixels wide. If you are getting different results when importing the post then what it looks like on the actual post, it probably has something to do with HTML surrounding those images.
