Dear all, having got my image upload, EXIF rules processing, tag cloud and Justified Image Grid all working see https://cuckoofair.co.uk/new-gallery it has now started not working when I uploaded a new set of 40 photos.

A bit of digging and it seems there’s a new issue with updating EXIF data on Windows 10 PCs which causes this error “0X88982F52 too much metadata…” in Windows 10 file manager when changing properties of pictures.

I have this page that dumps out IPCT/EXIF/WINXP meta data of selected images – https://cuckoofair.co.uk/development/image-metadata – it would be good if this also dumped out the Att Tags/Category/Title/Alt Text etc fields as stored in WordPress but I have forgotten how to do that!

A general question has anyone else seen that error recently?
Also how do you edit EXIF data on the Windows 10 PC? I am using File Properties which suits my needs as I only need to set Authors/Tags/Copyright…

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Well overnight I have done some more digging and it looks like the XP… section of EXIF is being updated but for the photos originally taken on the Sony camera those fields don’t get processed correctly when the file is uploaded into WordPress. I use the Add New button in the MLA Assistant page. It’s not clear to me whether this is a WordPress or MLA issue.

I have added some more images to that meta data viewer listed above. the v2s have just been uploaded via MLA, the v3s have been uploaded and had the EXIF rules processed.

XP… section of EXIF is being updated this is confirmed by viewing the EXIF data on the PC using tools like EXIFpro EXIF data viewer etc. The fields that get updated are called XPTitle, XPComment, XPAuthor, XPKeywords and XPSubject.

The words entered into XPTitle also populate exif:Description and XMP:Title and XMP:Description.

Thanks for your posts and for the link to your “Image Metadata” test page.

Here’s a link to an earlier topic along the same lines:

    Edit EXIF/IPTCXMP

I haven’t used the “File Properties” dialog box to edit image metadata and have not encountered the error you reported. I do know that the “WINXP” metadata has always had problems such as the question marks displayed in your test page. I usually use Adobe Photoshop to edit metadata, but I also had success with the EXIF Pilot application mentioned in the topic. I didn’t have much luck reading the “WINXP” data with this tool, however.

It looks like you have added the “WORDPRESS fields” to your test page. I am not sure what additional help you need with this topic. I will leave it unresolved for now. Any additional details you can provide will be helpful.
