• I recently got the new WP installed (and working) and I can post to my blog just fine. But I can’t edit anything because if I say “save” or “publish” it just times out and won’t let me do anything.
Can anybody tell me what’s wrong and how I fix this? The only way I’ve been able to do any kind of editing is to delete the post and enter it with changes as a new post.
    Please, please, please.

  • Okay:
What kind of server are you on?
    What version are you running?
    Has it always done this?
If not, when did it start?
Have you tried replacing your WP files?
If you upgraded, did you run upgrade.php?

I have a new install of the wp1 on an apache server. Since it’s a new install and I’ve just started using wp again, it’s always done this. I haven’t tried replacing any wp files, if so, which should I replace?
Something else that’s funny is that when I’m editing the templates, the box which shows the template will get bigger. Bigger so I can’t see the scrollbars on the side and have to use the arrow keys to scroll. I’ve also seen this in some people’s comment input box.

After it times out, if you go back to your blog, does it reflect the changes?
I frequently get timeouts (about one out of every three times I post), but if I go back and check my blog, it actually posted fine.

What is a network MTU? And where do I check to see if it should be changed?
Also, sometimes when it times out, yes the post is there if it’s a brand new one – but as for the editing stuff – it doesn’t change it at all.

If you don’t know what is a network MTU, you probably never changed it, unless you used some programs that claim to accelerate your connection. It is not alterable normally.

Ok, again I just tried to edit something and it wouldn’t let me Save & Continue Editing, or Save, or Publish. It’s timing out, and it is not saving the changes that are made.
Have I got permissions set wrong or something? Is there some code somewhere that I need to change in order for editing to be “saveable”. I don’t want to delete each file and reinput it all the time. And posting works… just not editing *pulling hair out*.

Actually I just tried changing file attributes on the edit files and that didn’t change anything either – still can’t edit.
