Editing a page exits quickly to new tab “This page isn’t working …”

  • I installed a plugin this morning called Hello Bar. It’s a simple popup creator to gather email addresses. It was working properly. Later I went in to edit a page and the page editor brings up the page but as soon as I type anything in it quickly jumps to a new page that says:

    This page isn’t working right now thorntontaxpayers.com?can’t currently handle this request.

    I have deleted Hello Bar and disabled all other plugins and I’ve updated the theme. I’ve tried on three different browsers and cleared all cache.

    I’m stumped. Any thoughts?

    There may be a server-side issue.

    Server error logs may provide some clue. If you have access to your server error log, generate the error again, note the date and time, then immediately check your server error log for any errors that occurred during that time period. If you don’t have access to your server error log, ask your hosting provider to look for you.

    I installed a debug plugin and deactivated all others. The problem persists and it tells me that IT is the problem.

    Have you checked your server error logs?

    Also, have you tried disabling this debug plugin as well?

    Forgive me for being naive, but are the server logs different from the error logs that I get with the debug plugin?

    Please contact your hosting provider about server error logs.

    I have never used debug plugin.

    If you havnt tried, also try switching to one of the default theme.

    Thanks I did switch to 2021 and it did not crash, I was able to edit a page. I’ve contacted the theme company Elegant Themes and I’ve contacted IONOS about the server logs too.

    Okay. That’s right course of action.

    Forum volunteers are also not given access to commercial products, so they would not know why your commercial theme or plugin is not working properly. This is one other reason why volunteers forward you to the commercial product’s vendors. The vendors are responsible for supporting their commercial product.

    I’ve contacted IONOS about the server logs too.

    Since you already know the culprit, you may not need them.
