• Can anyone suggest a theme that I can modify to look exactly (or as close as possible) to an existing restaurant menu page?

    this page:

I spent all weekend attempting to modify Kubrick with a far about of success in the appearance but I have no idea how to (and can’t find) a way to create a navigation bar similar to the existing site. I only need to create this one page for now, I may apply to the rest of the site in the near future. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. thanks

  • Hi,
I have never had much joy working with the default WP themes. I strongly dislike them. I was swearing at “WordPress Default” just yesterday, in fact! ??

I took a look at your site, and I have to wonder if WP is overkill for a 4-page site. With enough work, WP can be fashioned into almost any shape. Still, if I were just taking somebody’s template and trying to make it “content manageable” quickly, I would probably use MODx instead. Much less work than shoehorning WP’s bloggish format into a template. There are many others systems that do this well.

Another tricky thing is that your Info page has 2 columns. That means more template work. You’ll see once you get in there and try to make WP do that. This may not be pleasing.

Nonetheless, I have an idea for you if you’re dead set on WP. It depends on how handy you are with CSS and templating. WP Framework gives you a blank slate to play with:

I used that once before make an existing CSS template into WP format. You’d need to do the CSS from the ground-up, though, and you’ll need to read up on what the default template components of WP do. This scares many users away.

PS: This is one of the very rare restaurant sites that does not have very bad Flash all over it. Kudos for that!
