I have a question regarding the dynamic content you can edit within a WordPress theme. I’m currently re-designing and re-building my entire Web site to run through WordPress, I want my own freedom with the design so I have found a very basic theme which has pretty much no styling (Starkers) so I can build from scratch.

I am quickly understanding the concept of how WordPress works and its file structure, however, unlike Joomla I can’t seem to find out how to make ‘sections’ of the Web site dynamic that aren’t in my main content area.

For example, if I have some text within the footer which I want to be able to edit through the WordPress interface, how can I do this? Do I have to create a widget and then call it in my footer.php? Even if its just to allow me to edit the text within that widget?

There must be a very simple solution I am missing here, because in Joomla I often create ‘modules’ for sections of the Web site I want to be editable through the back-end interface.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Ashley

Yes – that would be the simplest solution.
