• Hey,

I have a user on my blog who is a ‘Contributor’, and I am wondering is there a way for me to edit that role a little bit?

I still want all the same options a ‘Contributor’ can do, but I would like them to be able to also remove and edit comments.

Does anyone know how I can do this?

    Thanks, appreciate it ??

    Thanks, I installed that plugin.

But when I checked ‘moderate posts’ for a ‘Contributor’ user, it only let’s them remove the spam posts.

They still can’t approve, or delete other types of comments.

Do you know how I cam fix this?

    See capabilities here for clarity:

I can only see the ‘moderate_comments’ role… does that mean it’s impossible for this to happen?

I wouldn’t know, i don’t play with the roles, what capability exactly are you trying to give this role, the ability to moderate posts, edit, delete, update etc???

See the link i provided again, it details all the roles, what they are as default..

Compare your given role with that of the admin, and you’ll see what capabilities the role needs to do task X.. test, adjust, test, adjust…

Yes, I would like the ‘Contributor’ user to be able to edit, approve/unapprove and delete a comment.

I checked the link you gave me, and the only role available for comments is ‘moderate_comments’.

I already assigned that role to the ‘Contributor’ users on my website and it still won’t let them edit, approve/unapprove and delete a comment?

So do some tests, give the role a few other capabilities, test again, if it still doesn’t work add them until it does, then remove them one at a time until you find the point it stops working, you then you’ll know the requirements for comment moderation…..

Test locally if you have to…

Just give the role more capabilites then it needs, then start removing, testing as you go..

You may wish to compare the role with the moderator role, i believe they can moderate comments, so compare the differences..

Process of testing… is all that’s required..

    Okay, thanks ??
