• I’m new to WordPress and is trying to get my head around WordPress. It appeasers that every new page, which I create gets automatically added in the “top-header” and I don’t want that.

So, my top header currently looks like this:

What am I doing wrong and how can I edit the top-header? Are there maybe a good plugin to solve my problem?

  • what you see might be the default if no custom menu is created for the top header menu; what theme are you using?
you should be able to edit the top header menu via
    ‘Appearance’ – ‘Menus’

Under appearance->menus, select your primary menu and uncheck the “add new pages automatically” checkbox.

    Hi folks,

    Thank you for the replies.

@ Michael – thank you for the link, I’m using “Storefront”, which is the default WordPress theme. I read through the article, which you linked and the header menu is not accessible at [Dashboard > Appearance > Menus] for me.

@ Steve Stern – thanks for the hint.

    Solution:
I created a new menu and assigned it to [Primary Menu] and created a few pages, which I assigned to the menu.

    Note:
Leaving the assigned new menu empty without pages or content will also push above mentioned issue.
