I have my directory set up so that when a listing is submitted, I have to approve it before it is published. How does someone who has a published listing edit their listing later? Do they click the Create A Listing button on the directory page to get to the login screen? Do I have to approve the listing again once they make changes?

    Hi @browneyestfc,

Depending on your settings, users can edit their listings later if you required registration for posting listings (that’s a setting under Directory Admin->Manage Options, General tab, Registration section).

If you didn’t allow that, users get a “guest” account associated with their listing that you can reassign to them if you decide to change that later. You can change listing ownership by editing the listing under Directory->Directory, click edit and scroll down to the “Author” field. Select the username of the person you need to switch to.

They don’t have to recreate their listing.

You can allow for approval or not for edited listings under Classifieds->Settings, Listings tab. Look for the “Status after editing” field. Right below “New listing status”

Yes, I have it set up so registration is required and I have to approve the listing before it is published, but I don’t have to approve any edits made afterwards. When someone is looking at their listing on the front end of the web site and they are not logged in, I don’t see an Edit button – the only buttons are Directory, View All Listings, and Create A Listing. Someone recently asked me how to edit their existing listing.

Here is a link to my web site for reference: https://www.diettechcentral.com/dtr-directory/wpbdp_category/california/

That is correct. In order for users to see any edit button, they must be logged in–that’s the only time we show that for their listings.

So to allow you users to edit their listings, just tell them to login first. If the listing is owned by them as I noted above, it will be editable.

    Does that make more sense?
