Edit Post Categories Checkboxes Shown out of order & nested structure

It seems in wp 2.6 on the edit post screen ( /wp-admin/post.php?action=edit&post=1 ) the Category checkboxes are displayed out of order the selected checkboxes are shown first, then the rest are shown in the correct hierarchy. This makes it impossible to determine which sub-categories with the same names they belong to. Is there a way to revert to the old behavior? I’m sure this is a convenience to some users, but it is a great inconvenience to me.
