Edit Page: Publish Box and Page Attributes Box are missing

  • Publish box (including “Update button”) and Page Attributes box are missing from “EDIT PAGE” admin page.
    I’ve tried to re-install 3.9 automatically and manually, disabled plugins, cleared cash and history, switched to one- and two-column display options. Nothing brings those boxes back.

    Any help would be highly appreciated.

    P.S. I have another blog that still runs 3.8 version. It works fine.

  • Sorry for starting with basics – can you see the heading “Publish” but not box? Click on the heading to expand the box.

    If you can look at the page source and see if div id=”page-sortables” is present. This should help narrow down the problem to code or css.

    Is this the only admin page which is not behaving normally?

    Can you try in another browser and/or another computer?

    Answering your questions:
    – I do not see the heading “Publish”
    – div id=”page-sortables” is not present in a admin “Edit Page” source
    – This is the only page I have a problem with. “Edit Post” admin page works fine
    – I tried Chrome, IE, and Firefox on two computers. All same.

    Hi, Running low on ideas… but a couple more things, you may have tried them. Go into screen options and ensure “Page attributes” is checked. If not checked, the Page Attributes box will be hidden as you describe. Also in screen options / screen layout, have you selected one or two columns? If one column, the Publish box will be at the bottom of the page away from its usual position.

    Not sure what exactly helped… I suspect the following (MOST RECENT) actions:
    – Clear history and cookies
    – Login
    – go to Edit Page
    – in “Display Options”: Un-check “Page Attributes”
    – Change “Screen Layout” to (.) 1 column
    – Check “Page Attributes” in “Display Options”

    By the way, the “Publish Box” is located at the bottom of the page in 1-column AND 2-column layouts. NOT in a sidebar as it was for 2-column layout in previous versions.
