• After updating to WP 5.6 and Advanced Editor Tools to 5.6 also, the edit page now hangs and won’t load fully.

But oddly, it is only on 2 of my sites. But all are running with the same plugins and setup.

Any ideas on what might cause this issue?

Yeah, that’s odd… Are you using the block editor or the classic editor?

Actually that shouldn’t happen in either. Could you try reloading the page couple of times while holding down Shift. If still the same, can you look in the browser tools for js errors, and post them here if any.

Thanks for your quick response @azaozz

    I’m using the classic editor.

I tried shift load a few times, and got this error.

Failed to load plugin: colorpicker from url https://justpublishingadvice.com/wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/colorpicker/plugin.min.js

In Dev Tools I see these errors:

That looks to me like some plugins are causing the problems.

As far as I see this error is “significant”:

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 522

Generally HTTP error 522 means the server didn’t respond and the connection timed out. This also explains why it doesn’t work only on some sites.

Are you using Cloudflare? Seems they often use that error code. If yes, maybe have a look at https://support.cloudflare.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003011431-Troubleshooting-Cloudflare-5XX-errors#522error.

As it seems to be a server load issue, it may start working “miraculously” on its own when the load goes back to normal.

    Thanks for the tips @azaozz

I think I might have found the problem. I have disabled Rocket Loader in Cloudflare. I also disabled the Semrush SEO Assistant plugin. Now there are no 522 errors.

Hopefully, it solves the issue, but I’ll keep an eye on it.
