Edit More Tag ?

  • New to WordPress. Want to redesign the More Tag. Type in new words into the tag but am not seeing any changes on the site. I am working in the single.php file. This is the coding in the file.

    <?php the_content(‘<span class=”readmore”>’.__(‘Read More»’,TEMPLATE_DOMAIN).'</span>’); ?>

    I don’t see “read more>>” after the post. I seeing “If you want to see more go to new page”. Am I editing in the wrong file? Is TEMPLATE_DOMAIN part of the issue? Thanks for any help!!
