Edit menu in FSE

    I wish to remove a page from the menu.

    I cannot find the menu settings.

    I am using FSE with 2022.

    If I go to Navigation and select the block there is a Menu section on the right with a ‘Manage menus’ link, but when I click it I just get the message “No navigation menu found”.

    If I expand the Navigation and click on Page list I get a 3dots edit option. But when I click this I get this message:

    Convert to links

    To edit this navigation menu, convert it to single page links. This allows you to add, reorder, remove items, or edit their labels.

    Note: if you add new pages to your site, you’ll need to add them to your navigation menu.

    So this seems to mean that I have to take over low level management of all the menu!? Surely there is some way to interact with the existing menu system that is simpler.

    Whatever happened to that simple elegant drag and drop system pre FSE? Just binned?

  • The menu is in a block on block themes. you will have to go to your block editor. Once in the editor you can click on your site logo in the left hand corner of the display or if you haven’t set one it will be the WordPress logo.

    You should see some options for templates and parts. Since this is probably part of the header click the parts option. Once in the parts option select the header if that where it located. you can click on the menu option you want to delete and then just delete it.

    The goal for wordpress is to make everything manageable through the block editor.

    Also they have dropped the F from FSE not it just called the Site Editor. I think on the next release the Beta will also be removed.

    Hi. Thanks. I don’t think this addresses my question. I found the block ok. But I cannot do anything with it unless I make it all static links. And then I have to manage everything by hand. Or that is the way it looks to me.

    right click on the item you want removed go to the bottom of menu and click on the remove. Add items by selecting custom link it should list your pages

    Hi. This does not work! Have you tried it? A right click on the menu item I want removed just gets me the standard right click menu of the os – Copy, Select All, Print selection …

    Thanks for the help. I got confused between the standard menu system and an addon menu I used to have. Doh!
