Edit Listings?

Hi Doug,

sorry for the delay – but the option you’re referring to has been removed in later versions of WP-Lister as all the available listing options have been implemented on the WooCommerce product details page and you shouldn’t use the direct edit feature anymore as it would be overwritten by the new options.

Technically, you could put WP-Lister Pro in developer mode and still have access to this feature – but this is not recommended and shouldn’t actually be required at any time.

If you let me know what it is that you were looking to achieve by directly editing a listing, I am sure I can come up with an alternative solution. ??

So, what I was looking for was to be able to go in to listings once they are created, to tweak the Title, Desctiption, etc. as needed to really optimize them for eBay, to add calls to action etc. that are appropriate for eBay but which may not be in the product descriptions as they appear on my Woocommerce site.

When you say

does this mean I can change the details that I want to and have them update my ebay listings, but not neccessarily my product page on the site, or am I misunderstanding what you mean?

no, what I meant is this:

Let’s say you want to have listing titles on eBay that are different from your product titles on eBay. If you just want to append something like the brand for example you can set up your profile (title suffix) to do that automatically, but to use a custom eBay listing title you can do so on the edit product page itself:

Just edit the product in WooCommerce and scroll down to the “eBay options” box where you’ll find the “listing title” as the first option. If you enter a custom listing title here, it will automatically be used by WP-Lister instead of the WooCommerce product title. The same works for subtitle, price, condition, etc.

The listing description however doesn’t have its own field – neither was anyone requested to add it before. The description is built using your listing template – where you can use a variety of shortcodes / placeholders to pull not only standard product data but also custom meta fields.

So you can use any 3rd party plugin that managed custom post meta fields to add a custom “eBay description” text field to your products, and then just use the appropiate shortcode in your listing template to pull that custom field value into your template.

is it possible to create a listing title “template” the will include for example:
text hereproduct_title text here product_category

I want this for the actual ebay title and not the description title and trying to avoid going product by product and setting a custom title for them

Hi mh1562,

you can achieve what you want by using the “title prefix” and “title suffix” options in your listing profile – not the template.

You can use most of the template shortcodes like [ [product_category] ] in these fields as well. So your listing suffix would be:

text here [ [product_category] ] (without the spaces between brackets).
