edit-index-form Help

Okay, I’m back looking at the various files that come with WordPress, and I’ve run into a problem. I’ve been using W3C’s validator and the HTML Tidy utility on the files in my “test” installation (I use it to test changes and corrections and like that). Tidied up the HTML twice, then tried to show the file in question in iCab 3.0.3 (Mac only Browser). Unfortunately I get the following mesasge:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in <REDACTED>/test/wp-admin/edit-link-form.php on line 1

I can’t seem to find that particular error. It does not show up in Netscape 7.0.2, and I’m not going to risk my computer with Internet Explorer 5. And it isn’t caught by W3C’s validator. Any ideas?

BTW, I can provide the tidied file for anyone interested.
