Edit Flow Status not visible in Gutenberg

    When I start writing a new page or post in the classic editor I get the option from this plugin to alter the status (e.g. Pitch, Pending Review, etc.). In Gutenberg this option is not available. Is this going to be included, or do I need to stop using this plugin when WordPress 5.0 is released later this year?

  • I too have noticed this issue. I am hoping that the developers of Edit Flow will address this problem and restore the functionality of the plugin.

    I’m keeping my fingers crossed as well, I LOVE the EditFlow plugin…..

    Luckily there is a very similar one that is actively maintained, it’s a forked version of EF called PublishPress…..since it was forked from EF it should mean very few, if any, changes to switch from EF to PublishPress, but I confess I haven’t tried that (yet). PublishPress as a basic EF-like plugin is free but they do have some ‘premium’ modules that extend the basic plugin with some nice features, so I do plan to dig in more soon.

    I followed a few breadcrumbs and discovered that the issue is sitting with the Gutenberg design team. They are trying to decide on the level of customizability they will permit in the “Publish” block in the Gutenberg editor. At this point, they haven’t provided the necessary programming hooks to allow the EF developers access to this block in the same way they had access in the Classic editor. For now, the best advice is to continue to use the Classic editor which will permit the full EF functionality.

    Howdy,

    We just released Edit Flow 0.9. It addresses the issue you mentioned along with a plethora of bug fixes and improvements.

    Doug is correct, unfortunately, the Core’s support for Custom Statuses is not quite there yet, but we’ve found a way. There’s an ability to override the status via “Extended Status” dropdown in Document -> Status & Visibility now.     We have a plan to eventually make Edit Flow 100% Gutenberg-compatible and taking active steps towards its realization.
